Madhabpur Lake is natural lake inside the Madhabpur tea estate. The water of the lake is so clean and clear that you can not stop yourself from jumping inside the lake. This lake is between the small hills, and most of the hills are planted with tea trees. At winter season different kind of migratory birds come here from cold countries so Bird lovers can see and enjoy different kind of birds here. This is an ideal place for Photographers. There is always heavy wind from the lake that made the water of the lake looks like a river or calm sea water. You must enjoy the view and quietness of this lake.

    • ClimateThe lake is a great place at winter season because all the migratory birds from cold countries get together in this lake and the scene becomes awesome.
    • How to get there
      First you have to come to Srimangal or Moulvibazar from Dhaka by Bus.
      Then from Srimangal or Moulvibazar you have to hire a CNG to reach Kamalganj.
      This lake is located 5 kilometers west side from the Kamalganj Upazila.
    • Where to stay
      There is a Parjatan Motel with a good restaurant for accommodation at Madhabkunda. There are many hotels and rest houses are available at Sylhet and Srimangal town so you can stay here.

    • Hakaluki Haor is one of the Bangladesh’s largest and one of Asia’s larger wetland resource. It is the home of numerous animals, fishes and birds and a large variety of flora and fauna. Fishes of 107 species were available in the haor, some tasty and nutritive fishes like Chela, Dhela, Pabda, Lal chanda are extinct from here. There are different kind of rare plants, animals, birds you will find here. It is famous for a wide variety of waterfowl as well as wintering migratory birds so it is a good place for bird lovers and photographers. In rainy season it takes youthful and significance looks like as infinite water kingdom.

Train are also available everyday from Kamalapur Railway Station. once you reach any of these places you can hire a car to go to 'Hakaluki Haor' and will take 25 minutes road drive from 'Kulaura' Railway station.

              You can go from Dhaka to Srimangal by bus or train service. Daily bus services are available from Dhaka to Srimangal every hour from sayedabad and take about 3.5 hours. The forest is located about 12km from Srimangal city. From Srimangal city you can hire transport to go to the forest. It will be 20 minutes road drive from Srimongol Railway Station.

                  It is about 60 Km away from Sylhet city so you need to have a road drive of 2 hours by Bus from Sylhet Natun Bridge Bus stand to Jaflong and have to get down at Mamar Dokan. Then by Rickshaw to the spot and then again have to take a boat to go to Zero Point the main spot of Jaflong.

                      You can easily reach Srimangal by train or several bus services available from Dhaka. Then you have to get Champarai Tea State. It will take about 2 hours to reach Kalabagan Para in Champarai Tea State. Kalabagan Para is the last settlement just beside the Rajkandi Reserve Forest. You have to start trekking from Kalabagan Para. The trekking route is amazing and full of hills. After 1-1.5 hours you will get to the downstream of the waterfall. Then  2 hours up stream trek will lead you to the Mystical Hummum waterfall.
                    • Where to stayThere are many hotels and rest houses are available at Srimangal town so you can stay there or you can manage your accommodation in Kalabagan Para if they permit.

                    • Madhabkunda waterfall


                    • Madhabkunda waterfall is one of the most attractive tourist spots in Sylhet division. It is the largest waterfall in Bangladesh. Big bolder of stones and the black stones with green leafy trees are making this waterfall so charming and eye catching. The rhythmic sound of waterfall from 200 ft height you must enjoy. Its natural beauty must attract you. It will help you to take a breath of self-complacency. Near you can also find a very beautiful tribe village and you can enjoy tribe life here. Lots of tourists from all corner of the world and picnic parties come to Madhabkunda every day for their enjoyment. Here you will also see some elephants and other wild animals.

                        • How to get there
                          First you have to go to Barolekha from Sylhet by bus and it will take 2 hours to go.From Barolekha you have to take an auto-rickshaw to reach Madhabkunda echo park gate.
                          But if you travel by train you have to get down at Kulaura rail station and from there you can reach Madhabkunda within one hour by microbus or minibus.
                          From Echo park gate you have to walk for 15 minutes to find the waterfall.

                          Notice: There is no bus from 11 AM to 3 PM at afternoon.

                          There is a Parjatan Motel with a good restaurant for accommodation and fooding.You will also find a Bunglow of district council.you need to have a prior booking for the bunglow from Moulvibazar Zilla Parishad office

Rangamati – Natural beauty surrounded by Lake













Rangamati is the Administrative Headquarter of Rangamati Hill District in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. Rangamati is a small town amongst the green hills, lakes and rivers. This is what makes it a prime Bangladesh hill destination. It is known as the Lake City of Bangladesh as this place on the bank of the beautiful Kaptai Lake. Rangamati Hill District is the largest district of Bangladesh and 77 kilometers away from Chittagong. For long time Rangamati has been a prime Bangladesh tourist destination for its location, scenic beauty, colorful tribal people, tribal homespun textiles and ivory jewellery.

The rich natural resources, diverse flora and fauna makes Rangamati a Eco-Tourism destination. The road leading to Rangamati circles and winds through hilly terrains covered with lush green forests and creates a memorable experience for years to come. A stay here provides a glimpse into the lifestyle of various tribes living there. The ethnic tribes of Rangamati are the Chakma, Marma, Tonchongya, Tripura, Murong, Bome, Khumi, Kheyang, Chak, Pankhoa, and Lusai. Visit Rangamati during October to February as the temperature remains cool and usually there is no rainfall, however, the beauty of Rangamati unleashes during the monsoon as the forest becomes greener, bursts with life and the rivers and waterfalls becomes replenished. 

Rangamati Tourist Attractions : Kaptai Lake : This large manmade lake of Bangladesh spanning over an area of approximately 11000km2, was created as a reservoir when the Kaptai dam was built during the 1960s. The lake was created by flooding valleys and plain lands between numerous hills. This created a picturesque view as forested hills and plateaus rise from beneath the water. The government run tourism corporation and private operators offer Kaptai Lake Cruise Tours, which is worth of it. Other scenic spots are also accessible through the waterways. 


Shuvolong Falls : Shuvolong a place in Borokol sub district, located about 25kilometers (11kilometers – as the crow flies) away from Rangamati. There are few waterfalls in Shuvolong area with the largest one falling from as high as 300 feet. In the past several years, this place has turned into a tourist destination due to beautiful waterfalls and the nearby market. Shuvolong is easily accessible by speed boat or motor boats from Rangamati. 

Tribal Museum : The museum is located near the entry point to the city. Established in 1978, it is run by the Tribal Cultural Institute. Traditional ornaments, costumes, potteries, musical instruments, armaments, paintings and photographs, old manuscripts, statues and ancient coins of various tribes are on display here. It is open Saturday to Thursday excluding public holidays. 

Hanging Bridge : This 335feet long bridge across a portion of the Kaptai lake is an icon of Rangamati. 

Kaptai National Park : This forest reserve is located in the Karnafuly and Kaptai range. According to the government statistics some 50,000 people visits the national park every year as it provides some walking trails among the lush green forest. The animal species of Kaptai National park are deer, elephants, monkeys, fishing cats and birds. The Kaptai Forest Rest house, Kaptai Mukh Forest Rest House and several picnic spots are located here. 

Rajban Bihar Pagoda : An internationally known Buddhist Temple, where the spiritualist principal monk of Rajban Vihara, Shrimath Sadhana Nanda Mohasthabir(Ban Vante) lives. 

Peda Ting Ting A small island on the Kaptai Lake, few kilometers away from Rangamati. It is mostly known for its serenity. There are a few tourist accommodation facilities here and a tiny restaurant run by the locals. It offers foods ranging from traditional to indigenous delicacies. 

Chakma Royal Palace : This is the palace of the present Chakma King. However, it is open to public for a visit.

DC Bungalow Area : The District Commissioner’s Bungalow is located adjacent to the lake. There is a small light house and a shelter accessible to the public. This spot provides a nice view of the lake. 

Others : The local market is also a tourist attraction as it offers handicrafts, textiles and ornaments made by the tribal people
